Geiger Goes Solar at Lewiston Headquarters

Top 40 distributor Geiger (asi/202900) has installed a solar power system that will provide 100% of its annual electricity needs at its campus in Lewiston, ME. The largest business solar array in Maine, the system will result in Geiger reducing CO2 output by 319,731 pounds annually, the company said.

“When we started planning our office expansion, we decided we had to do everything possible to minimize our carbon footprint and to underscore our commitment to sustainability,” said CEO Gene Geiger. “We are so proud that we are virtually off the grid, and our electricity usage is roughly one-third of what it was 4 years ago. We’re doing our part.”

According to Geiger, 696 Q CELL panels producing 233.2 Kilowatts in direct current generate the distributorship’s electricity needs in Lewiston. Geiger also said the company is 100% carbon neutral for all product shipments. Further, the distributorship’s newly renovated office facilities are certified to LEED’s gold standard and are designated a Maine “Advanced Building,” meaning the facilities are among the most energy efficient in the state.
