National Pen (asi/281040), whose parent company is Top 40 distributor Cimpress (asi/162149), is expanding its operation in Ireland.
Over the next five years, National Pen plans to add 250 jobs in Dundalk, IE, where it has operated for 30 years, CEO/EVP Peter Kelly confirmed to Counselor Monday. Additionally, the San Diego-headquartered distributor will be adding a second location in Dundalk next year.
At peak, National Pen employs approximately 2,500 people globally, about 1,000 of which are in the Emerald Isle, Kelly told Counselor. “Dundalk has proven a great location that has allowed us to grow to the extent we have,” Kelly said in a statement.
National Pen’s Dundalk office services western and central Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. The Dundalk Democrat reported that National Pen’s Irish operation sold more than 130 million personalized promotional products in 2016.
In December 2016, Cimpress acquired National Pen. At the time, National Pen ranked 10th on Counselor’s 2016 list of the largest distributors in the promotional products industry. Currently, Cimpress ranks 8th on Counselor’s 2017 list of the 40 biggest distributors in the industry, with estimated 2016 North American promotional product revenue of $225 million. Cimpress is the parent company of Vistaprint.
