The Cap That Keeps On Giving

Henderson was recently at a golf tournament when he met a construction company president who was giving out branded caps. The president was interested, and shortly after the event Henderson sent him a sample. “He said, ‘This is perfect,’” says Henderson, account manager at Corona, CA-based Proforma Graphic PrintSource (asi/300143). “His initial order was for 400 caps with embroidery on them front and center.”
On the heels of that deal, Henderson presented the cap to a manufacturing client. As with the construction company, the manufacturer was impressed by the hat’s style and performance attributes, considering both a step up from the standard cotton baseball cap the company had been buying. “They have a lot of guys who work outside in the heat so the performance features were appealing,” says Henderson. “Their first order was for 144 pieces.”
Both deals happened in quick succession, and as of press time, Henderson was putting together a quote for approximately 5,000 of the caps for a client that makes oil additives. “Showing buyers a sample is what really gets them with this cap,” he says. “I’ve shown it to three companies so far, and I got three orders. You can’t beat that.”
