CPSC Recalls Resistance Tubes
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an official recall for Fitness Gear resistance tubes sold at DICK’s Sporting Goods. The tubes can break while in use, potentially causing injury to the user. DICK’s has received 12 reports so far of the tubes breaking; two of the users were struck and one fell when the tube broke.
The latex tubes, made in China, were sold in blue, purple, orange, green, gray and red, with grey handles. They range in resistance from five to 30 pounds, and were available both individually and in packs of three, four or five. Recalled model numbers are STA00560, STA00561, STA00562, STA00563, STA00564, STA00565, STA00566, STA00567 and STA00568.
About 207,500 pieces were sold at DICK’s Sporting Goods stores nationwide and at www.dickssportinggoods.com from September 2015 through August 2017 for between $15 and $80. No ASI-listed companies were named in the recall.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to the nearest DICK’s Sporting Goods store,” said the CPSC in its official recall notice. Consumers with a receipt will receive a full refund, and those without will receive a store credit.
DICK’s Sporting Goods can be contacted at (877) 846-9997 from 8 a.m. to midnight ET Monday through Friday, or at www.dickssportinggoods.com. More information is available at the company’s Recalls page.
