BDA Acquires SwervePoint
Top 40 distributor BDA (asi/137616) has acquired Boston-based SwervePoint (asi/340679), Counselor has learned. While financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed, the agreement represents the firm’s “largest acquisition to date,” according to BDA. The deal also allows BDA to expand its operation in the Northeast U.S., while adding SwervePoint co-founders Jamie Mair and Kevin Phoenix to its leadership team.
“What makes SwervePoint so attractive is its B2B, e-commerce programs and very creative and client-focused website development capabilities,” said Jay Deutsch, co-founder and CEO of BDA. “This acquisition provides us the opportunity to continue our growth trajectory while integrating additional resources to better support our east coast clients. From our partnership with the Boston Red Sox, to our existing clients we currently serve, we are proud to further engrain BDA into the great city of Boston.”
Since Mair and Phoenix founded SwervePoint in 2004, the full-service promotional firm has earned customers in the financial, insurance, technology and professional services industries. “Our clients are going to benefit from the buying power, creativity, and global services expertise BDA is known for,” said Mair. “This is the perfect fit at the perfect time. Joining BDA allows us to expand our relevance within our existing clients, while now being able to offer BDA’s gold-standard capabilities.”
In the just-released Counselor State of the Industry issue, Washington-based BDA reported 2016 North American promo product sales of $284 million, which places the firm among the market’s top five largest distributors. The company has been buoyed by recent merchandising deals with the NBA and MLB clubs like the Red Sox, as well as the opening of offices in the UK and the Philippines.
