Movember
This initiative encourages animal lovers to donate dog and/or cat toys to local shelters and rescues. Companies across industries will generate positive buzz if they give logoed squeak toys, flying discs, pet bandannas and tennis ball toss play sets. Up your consultative service by suggesting that clients promote their do-gooding to local media outlets through a press release and/or gifting event.
Worldwide Food Service Safety Month
This month reminds professional food service workers about the importance of storing, preparing and serving food safely. Culinary schools, chain restaurants and local eateries can encourage best practices with programs that reward employees for handling all edibles properly. Travel tumblers and keytags make great gifts.
National Impaired Driving Prevention Month
Provide local chapters of SADD and MADD with products like buttons and wristbands for anti-impaired driving events and campaigns. Additionally, help adult beverage brands broadcast the message of responsibility with bottle openers that read, “If you’re using this, don’t drive.”
National Write A Business Plan Month
Advise small-business coaches to undertake a direct-mail campaign in which they send ideal prospects items like stylus pens and business card holders, along with several salient tips for creating an excellent business plan for the coming year and beyond.
Dec. 1 World AIDS Day
Help health-care systems, universities, fraternities/sororities, HIV-focused nonprofits and other organizations spread the message about AIDS prevention with products that include condoms and awareness bracelets.
Dec. 4 National Salesperson’s Day
Companies large and small can thank dedicated salespeople with watches, custom-labeled wine, mobile phone holders, earbuds, Bluetooth speakers, power banks and more.
Dec. 5 World Soil Day
Partner with environmental nonprofits, conservation groups and agricultural organizations to help raise awareness about the importance of sustainably managing the nation’s limited soil resources. Power the effort with “green” products, such as shirts made from organic cotton and totes, water bottles, coasters, flying rings and other items created from recycled materials.
Dec. 6 National Miner’s Day
Mining companies can reward workers for their hard work and commitment to a dangerous job with products like work wear vests, durable duck jackets, tape measures, keychain flashlights and more.
Dec. 21 Celebrate Short Fiction Day
This day celebrates the short story in literature. Partner with publishing companies for promotions of their recent short story collections. Bookmarks, mugs and reusable totes are several items publishers can give freely to a select number of people who purchase their books.
Dec. 26 Boxing Day
A legal holiday in Canada and the United Kingdom, Boxing Day celebrations are increasingly being hosted by British and Irish-themed bars and restaurants in the United States. Provide special staff shirts, napkins, balloons, coasters and matchbooks for the fun.
